Further Explanation:

Salzburger Emigrants were the group of German-speaking Protestant from Archbishopric of Salzburg. This place is now in Austria, who immigrated to Georgia Colony in 1734 to escape the religious persecution. The group was expelled from their homeland by Count Leopold Anton. On 31st October 1731, he issued the Edict of Expulsion that demanded from Salzburg Protestants to retract their faith. Samuel Urisperger was the leader of the society that demanded promotion of the Christian knowledge called King George II for the help. The Lutheran King gave them refugee in the Georgia colony. This town later became Ebenezer. Initially, Salzburger experienced obstacles in establishing their community. Nearly 30 people died because of dysentery and newborn child died within a month. The settlement was far inland and they have little access to the waterways that rendered the land infertile. Then they relocated their alliance with the Trustees who gave them financial support for sustaining them. Salzburger would fail if they did not settle the community again. In 1736, Boltzius was capable to secure the new settlement after negotiating with Oglethorpe. They resettled above the Savannah River. The community was called New Ebenezer.
