B. Cons i. For States like New Hampshire, Idaho, Nebraska, every state with less than four (4) million people in population – They will have less power in Congress than Puerto Rico since the number of Representatives is based on population. ii. The Hispanic community will have a greater voice in all political and economic issues. Richardson for President??? Good for Hispanics, bad for Anglos and African-Americans.
Some people would say that Puerto Rico will be an economical drain to the US if they become a state. The fact is that Puerto Rico is already getting a great percent of economic assistance from the US. Becoming a state will not add to the package, it will just make it less as a assistance and more as a Right to it. Puerto Rico will be about the same level as Mississippi when it comes to economic assistance.
Puerto Rico is already adding to the US economic because over four (4) million of Puertorrican live in the continental US. Lost of these puertorrican are professionals that have joined the US labor force and are paying state and federal taxes. Another big group are those participating in the Armed Forces. Puertorrican can and have been present side by side with other Americans in every war since WW1. They go from private to four start generals.

xeze [42]

The correct answer is - C. The river carried enormous amounts of silt.

The Yellow River, got this nickname because it is yellowish from the enormous amounts of silt it carries. When there were heavy rains, or the snow was melting, the river got more water, but also more silt, so the silt was partially blocking the free movement of all of the water, so it was flooding the surrounding are. In one way, the floods were terrible because they were destroying pretty much everything on their way, but on the other side, were living huge amounts of deposits that were fertilizing the soil for the agriculture.

How have the events of the late 1970s continued to affect Cambodia today?
meriva

Answer:

About 20% of the people of Camboida were killed in the space of about five years. In particular, the Khmer Rouge targeted those who stood out as successful in business or academic pursuits. This action deprived the country of some of its most elite talent. It will take a few generations for the country to recover from such a loss. In addition, the resistance movement of the Khmer Rouge persisted in the jungles until the late 1990s, instilling a sense of terror and uncertainty in the population at large that still impacts people today. People feared that a new reign of Khmer Rouge power could once again target those with religious beliefs, economic knowledge, or intellectual goals. A current effort is under way to put on trial the people responsible for the killing. The goal of such trials is to demonstrate to the people of Camboia and the world that the nation is ready to move on from the devastation of the past.
