During the middle of his speech, he relates the present economic troubles to those of the past. In this plan, Germany was to manufacture and pay the Americans in due time. In addition, the great depression was caused by the drought that caused agricultural produce to decrease. In this speech, Roosevelt is calming the people. He said that people had nothing to fear except the fear itself and that everything would eventually work out.
