As given in the question

Part value = $4

Total value = $50

Put all the values in the percentage formula as mentioned above.

Percentage = \frac{4\times100}{50}

solving the above

Percentage = \frac{400}{50}

Percentage = 8%

Therefore $4 is 8% of $50 .

Basically you would have to divide the 1 % by a 100 to get a decimal then multiply it with 50 to get your answer which is 50 cents then divide $4 by it to get 8%
