3x-y=4
2x+y=6

Add the two equations together:
5x=10
x=2

Plug 2 for x into the second equation:
2(2)+y=6
4+y=6
y=2

The solution is (2,2)

Firdavs [7]

Answer:

Answer from the answer data to choose from

<h2>3(x² + 3x - 1)</h2>

Factor completely

3\left(x+\dfrac{3-\sqrt{13}}{2}\right)\left(x+\dfrac{3+\sqrt{13}}{2}\right)

Step-by-step explanation:

3x^2+9x-3=(3)(x^2)+(3)(3x)-(3)(1)\\\\=(3)(x^2+3x-1)\\\\\text{For}\ x^2+3x-1\ \text{use the quadratic formula}\\\\x=\dfrac{-b\pm\sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}\\\\x^2+3x-1\to a=1,\ b=3,\ c=-1\\\\x=\dfrac{-3\pm\sqrt{3^2-4(1)(-1)}}{2(1)}=\dfrac{-3\pm\sqrt{9+4}}{2}=\dfrac{-3\pm\sqrt{13}}{2}=-\dfrac{3\pm\sqrt{13}}{2}\\\\3x^2+9x-3=3\left(x+\dfrac{3-\sqrt{13}}{2}\right)\left(x+\dfrac{3+\sqrt{13}}{2}\right)

Linda Frankell pays $50.00 a month for group health insurance. There is a $300 deductible. Her medical bills for the last year w
irinina [24]
Linda Frankell Pays $50.00 a month towards group health insurance, so for a year, that is for 12 months, her premiums would be

Linda's premiums for 12 months = $50 × 12 = $600

Deductible is the amount Linda Frankell will have to pay each year as a policy holder towards her medical expenses before the insurance company pays its share.

Amount Linda pays towards deductible = $300

Linda's medical bills = $2,600.00
The insurance company will pay 80% of the bills less the deductible, which means, the insurance company will pay 80% of the ($2,600.00 - $300 deductible = $2,300.00)

∴ Amount the insurance company pays = 80% of $2,300.00 = $1,840.00

Amount Linda has to pay towards the $2,300.00 = $2,300.00 - $1,840.00 = $460.00

Linda's total cost = Linda's 12 months premiums + $300 deductible + $460 = $600 + $300 + $460 = $1,360.00

Insurance company's payment = $1840.00
Linda's total cost = $1,360.00

Problem:
Molodets [167]

Answer:

a)

We know that:

a, b > 0

a < b

With this, we want to prove that a^2 < b^2

Well, we start with:

a < b

If we multiply both sides by a, we get:

a*a < b*a

a^2 < b*a

now let's go back to the initial inequality.

a < b

if we now multiply both sides by b, we get:

a*b < b*b

a*b < b^2

Then we have the two inequalities:

a^2 < b*a

a*b < b^2

a*b = b*a

Then we can rewrite this as:

a^2 < b*a < b^2

This means that:

a^2 < b^2

b) Now we know that a.b > 0, and a^2 < b^2

With this, we want to prove that a < b

So let's start with:

a^2 < b^2

only with this, we can know that a*b will be between these two numbers.

Then:

a^2 < a*b < b^2

Now just divide all the sides by a or b.

if we divide all of them by a, we get:

a^2/a < a*b/a < b^2/a

a < b < b^2/a

In the first part, we have a < b, this is what we wanted to get.

Another way can be:

a^2 < b^2

divide both sides by a^2

1 < b^2/a^2

Let's apply the square root in both sides:

√1 < √( b^2/a^2)

1 < b/a

Now we multiply both sides by a:

a < b
