Answer: There are 8 possible outcomes

Step-by-step explanation: This is a question of probability and likelihood. The number of outcomes in a case of probability means all the possible events that can happen with certainty. So for example, in a jar of marbles with 10 marbles of different colors, the number of all possible outcomes is 10. That is, every single marble has an equal chance of being picked.

Kendall has three jars with the following contents;

Jar 1 = White golf ball and pink golf ball (2 balls)

Jar 2 = Orange golf ball and purple golf ball (2 balls)

Jar 3 = Yellow golf ball and red golf ball (2 balls)

In total she has a choice of 6 different golf balls to choose from. Each jar has a total of two possible outcomes. When she picks from each jar, the probability of choosing a golf ball of whatever color is derived as follows;

(Using Jar 1);

Probability of picking a white golf ball P(W)

P(W) = Number of required outcomes/Number of all possible outcomes

P(W) = 1/2

P(W) = 0.5

This means, if she picks one golf ball from each jar, the possibility is the same, that is, 0.5

If each jar has a total of 2 possible outcomes, and Kendall decides to pick one each from each of the three jars, then she would end up with 8 different possibilities.

If she starts with the first jar, then she would would have,

WOY, WOR WPuY, WPuR, PiOY, PiOR, PiPuY, PiPuR

(Where W = White, O = Orange, Y = Yellow, Pi = Pink, Pu = Purple, R = Red)

So basically she would have a total of 8 possibilities when choosing. Note that she would have the same combination if she decided to start over with jar 2 and jar 3.

Answer:

The total number of outcomes is 8.

Step-by-step explanation:

We know that there are different golf balls, white and pink, orange and purple, yellow and red. There are three jars with two golf balls each.

If Kendall chooses one golf ball from each jar, the total number of balls selected would be 4. Now, there are two different colors per jar, and 8 total golf balls with different colors. But, the sets can't have repetitions, and the order matters.

Having said that, the total number of possible sets is:

 • White, Orange, Yellow.
 • White, Purple, Red.
 • White, Orange Red.
 • White, Purple, Yellow.
 • Pink, Orange, Yellow.
 • Pink, Purple, Red.
 • Pink, Purple, Yellow.
 • Pink, Orange, Red.

Notice that these eight outcomes includes all possible results.

Therefore, there are 8 possible outcomes.
