The fourteenth amendment is created to make sure that members of racial minorities could receive equal treatment from the government.
Before this amendment, many public shools rejected the asians and the latinos in favor of the racial majority. After this amendment, they asian and latinos children managed to obtain equal education (at least in government owned school) to help the in the future.
