Bats are not blind
Since many kinds of bats hunt insects at night, they have an additional trick called echolocation for finding their way in the dark. The bat uses its mouth to create sounds that bounce off nearby objects, just like a moth.

Rufina [12.5K]

Answer:

The scientific study of life, called Biology, can be organized around several themes. As the biological hierachy builds from molecules on up to ecosystems, each level has emergent properties that result from interactions among component parts. Life's basic unit of structure and function is the cell, which occurs in two basic forms- prokaryotic and eukaryotic . As organisms interact with the environment, nutrients and chemicals cycle within an ecosystem, while energy flows one way from sunlight -> chemical energy -> heat. According to the core theme of evolution all of life is related by common descent. Life was diversified as natural selection had led to the gradual accumulation of adaptations that fit populations to the environment.

Explanation:

Emergent properties- Properties that is exhibited by a group of individuals as a result of interaction among them.

Evolution- the process by which populations develop new characteristic and become more efficient than their ancestors.

Natural selection- A phenomena in which only fittest organisms of a population are allowed to survive in a given environment. This play a key role in evolution.

UNICELLULAR, MULTICELLULAR, OR COLONIAL EURKAYOTE WHOSE CELL WALLS MAY CONTAIN CELLULOSE; CAN BE PLANTLIKE, ANIMAL-LIKE, OR FUNGUS LIKE

a) IF IT IS A EUKARYOTE, BUT NOT AN ANIMAL, PLANT, OR FUNGI THEN IT IS A PROTIST

1. Protists are classified more easily by what they are not than by what they are

a) Protists are not animals, plants or fungi because they do not have all of the characteristics necessary to place them in any of these kingdoms

2. Kingdom Protista was created to include this diverse group of more than 200,000 organisms

3. ALL PROTISTS ARE EUKARYOTES WHICH MEANS THEY HAVE MEMBRANE BOUND ORGANELLES AND A DNA FOUND IN A MEMBRANE BOUND NUCLEUS

a) like all eurkayotes, the DNA of protists is found within the membrane bound eukaryotes, there are remarkable differences in their reproductive methods

b) Some reproduce asexually by mitosis while others exchange genetic material during meiosis

PROTISTS ARE CLASSIFIED BASED ON THEIR METHOD OF OBTAINING NUTRITION

1. There are divided into three groups using this method:

a) animal-like protists/protozoan

b) plantlike protists/algae

c) fungus like protists

HETEROTROPHIC, UNICELLULAR, ANIMAL LIKE PROTIST

1. Usually ingest bacteria, algae, or other protozoans

2. REQUIREMENTS:

a) ingest food, heterotrophs

b) no cell walls

3. Some are parasites

1. Cillates

2. amoebas
