2x + x = 63
3x = 63
x = 21
2x = 43
Jiri is 21

Let x be Pamela's age, and y Jiri's age.
"Pamela's age is 2 times Jiri's age" can be represented by x = 2y
"The sum of their ages is 63" So x + y = 63

We can now create a system of 2 equations:
x = 2y (1)
x + y = 63 (2)

Let's take the algebraic value of x from equation (1) and replace it in equation (2):
x + y = 2y + y = 3y
So 3y = 63
Divide both sides by 3 to isolate y on a side and its value on the other:
(3y)/3 = 63/3
y = 21

So Jiri's age is 21 years old.

Hope this Helps! :)

()) 91 is the quotient of c and 283
Crazy boy [7]

Hey there,

The word problem is as follows:

  • 91 is the quotient of c and 283

From the word choice you know that this is a division problem therefore in numbers this would become 283 ÷ c = 91.

Now that we know that in order to find c we would have to divide 283 by 91 which is another way to write that equation.

So...

  • 283 ÷ 91 would be 3 \frac{10}{91}

Hope I helped,

Amna

You pick a marble pick a card and spin the spinner how many outcomes are possible
Katen [24]

SOLUTION:

For the marbles, 4 outcomes are possible.

For the cards, 2 outcomes are possible.

For the spinner, 2 outcomes are possible.

Thus, the total outcomes possible are;

4\times2\times2=16\text{ ways}

Thus there are 16 possible outcomes.
