In 2003 the war in Darfur region of Sudan broke out, when two rebel groups started fighting the government of Sudan, the Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM) and the Justice and Equality Movement initiated the rebellion, teh Government started an ethnic cleansing of Darfur non-arabs that ended up with the death of hundreds of thousands civilians. Like many of the civil wars that happens in the history of the world this revolves around the belief that they should be independent because historically they´ve been a separte nation that came under the control of Sudan, along other causes are water supply and gertile land ownership.
