I would most likely say that the "Plot" is The Correct Answer.

Cause as we see, the Conflict is the dramatic struggle between two forces in a story. Without conflict, there is no plot. Conflict is a problem that must be solved; an issue between the protagonist and antagonist forces.

I think its an Idiom. I don't see like or as. So no simile. I don't see he is something like a marshmallow. - No metaphor. I also don't see a non-human thing doing human things- the grass was dancing in the wind. My answer would be an idiom.
