Answer:

The coin was thrown from 448 feet

Time to hit the ground is 7 seconds

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

h(t) =  -16(t - 7)(t + 4)

Solving (a): Height when coin is thrown

At this point t = 0

So, we have:

h(0) =  -16(0 - 7)(0 + 4)

Solve expressions in the brackets

h(0) =  -16(-7)(4)

h(0) =  448

<em>Hence, the coin was thrown from 448 feet</em>

Solving (b): Time to hit the ground

At this point, h = 0.

So, we have:

0 =  -16(t - 7)(t + 4)

Reorder

-16(t - 7)(t + 4) = 0

Divide both sides by -16

(t - 7)(t + 4) = 0

This gives:

t - 7 = 0      or      t + 4 = 0

t = 7   or     t = -4

Since, time can't be negative;

Time = 7\ seconds

karie builds a skate ramp with 2 metres of wood. she wants the vertical height of the ramp to be 1 metre. what does the angle el

Answer:

  30°

Step-by-step explanation:

The relationship between triangle sides and angles can be remembered using the mnemonic SOH CAH TOA. Here, we're interested in the relationship involving the hypotenuse and the side opposite the angle:

  Sin = Opposite/Hypotenuse

For a ramp 1 m high and 2 m long, we have ...

  sin(x) = (1 m)/(2 m) = 1/2

  x = arcsin(1/2) = 30°

The elevation angle of the ramp needs to be 30°.

Please help me. I don’t understand this at all...

Problem 1

With limits, you are looking to see what happens when x gets closer to some value. For example, as x gets closer to x = 2 (from the left and right side), then y is getting closer and closer to y = 1/2. Therefore the limiting value is 1/2

Another example: as x gets closer to x = 4 from the right hand side, the y value gets closer to y = 4. This y value is different if you approach x = 0 from the left side (y would approach y = 1/2)

Use examples like this and you'll get the results you see in "figure 1"

For any function values, you'll look for actual points on the graph. A point does not exist if there is an open circle. There is an open circle at x = 2 for instance, so that's why f(2) = UND. On the other hand, f(0) is defined and it is equal to 4 as the point (0,4) is on the function curve.

Problem 2

This is basically an extension of problem 1. The same idea applies. See "figure 2" (in the attached images) for the answers.

Which fraction has a terminating decimal as its decimal expansion?
ArbitrLikvidat [17]

Answer:

fraction which has a terminating decimal as its decimal expansion is:

1/5

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given 4 fractions:

1/3 , 1/5 , 1/7 and 1/9

We have to find which fraction has terminating decimal.

1/3 = 0.33333...

1/5 = 0.2

1/7 = 0.142857142857...

1/9 =0.11111.....

Hence, fraction which has a terminating decimal as its decimal expansion is:

1/5
