A cold compress or icepack placed on the area of the pain actually works wonders, especially for migraines where the blood vessels are swelled. The cold compress constricts the blood vessels. Also taking a nap with a good comfortable pillow placed behind the neck may help. If the headache persists, contacting a physician for proper diagnosis and treatment because there are many types of headaches such as migraine, sinus, tension, stress, etc.
