<u>Solution-</u>

1.

Bill bought a computer and a printer for a total of $650.

Let p stand for the cost of the printer, so

\text{Cost of the computer + p} =650

\Rightarrow 525+p=650

\Rightarrow p=650-525=125

2.

Bonnie ordered 27 products from one company

Let m stand for the number of missing items

\text{Number of item she got + m} =27

\Rightarrow 19+m=27

\Rightarrow m=27-19=8

3.

Terri bought four lipsticks for a total cost of $20

Let l stand for the cost of one lipstick.

Price\ of\ one\ lipstick \times I=20

\Rightarrow 4 \times I=20

\Rightarrow I=5

4.

Each survey takes him about 10 minutes to complete

Let h stand for the number of hours

Tota\l time\ taken\ = Time\ taken\ for\ 1\ survey\ in\ hours\times no.\ of\ survey

Total\ time\ taken\ =\frac{10}{60} \times 30 = 5 hours

5.

Andy played golf three times during his vacation. His scores were 92, 87, and 88.

Let A stands for the average.

Average \ score=A= \frac{Score_1+Score_2+Score_3}{3} =\frac{92+87+88}{3}=89

6.

Tickets to a local basketball team’s games cost $12 each. Brendon and Ed each bought tickets to four games.

Total tickets = 2×4=8 (∵ They each bought 4 tickets)

(Let t stand for the amount spent on tickets.

Amount\ spent\ on\ tickets\ =price\ of\ 1\ ticket \times total\ ticket}

\Rightarrow t=12 \times 8=96

1. In this question subtraction operation will be used.

Let the price of printer be = p

Total amount paid = $650

Price of computer = $525

So, the price of printer will be , p=650-525=125

Hence the price of printer is $125.

2. In this question subtraction operation will be used.

Let the number of missing items be = m

Number of products ordered = 27

Number of products received = 19

So, number of missing orders =m=27-19=8

3. In this question, division operation is used.

Let the cost of one lipstick = L

Cost of 4 lipsticks = 20

Cost of 1 lipstick =L=\frac{20}{4}=5

Hence, the cost of 1 lipstick = $5

4. In this question, division operation is used.

Let the number of hours taken to do 30 surveys = h

6 surveys are done in = 1 hour

1 survey is done in = \frac{1}{6}

so, 30 surveys will be done in = \frac{1}{6}\times30=5 hours.

5. In this question. addition and division operations are used.

Let the average be = A

A=\frac{sum of events}{number of events}

Sum of scores = 92+87+88=267

A=\frac{267}{3}=89

Hence, average is 89.

6. In this question, multiplication operation is used.

Let the amount spent on tickets be = t

As given, Brendon and Ed each bought tickets to 4 games, so total tickets bought = 8

Cost of 1 ticket = $12

Cost of 8 tickets = 12\times8=96

Hence total amount is $96.

Ax+By=C [Use the standard form of a linear equation]
x+y=C so, x+(C-x)=C [also use this formula]
.
$5.50x+$4.00y=$310 [plug-in the values]
Since x+(C-y)=C, than x+y=70 or x+(70-x)=70
.
5.50x+4.00(70-x)=310 [substitute (70-x) for y and simplify]
5.50x+280-4x=310
5.50-4=310-280 [solve for x]
1.5x=30
x=20 adults
and
y=(70-x)=70-20=50 kids under 12.

Paha777 [63]
To produce the word form and standard form of the value given we can first establish the simplest and clearest form by turning the given numerical value into a single number
1. 70, 000, 000 + 400, 000 + 10, 000 + 8, 000 + 500 + 30 + 9 = 70, 418, 539
2. Hence, the word form will be seventy million four hundred eighteen thousand five hundred and thirty-nine
