Answer: 5 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

Since, The volume of the rectangular portion of the driveway = Length of the driveway × Width of the driveway × Height of the driveway

Here, the length = 12 feet = 4 yard   ( 1 feet = 1/3 yard )

Height = 6 inches =  \frac{ 6}{36} =  \frac{1}{6}

Let w be the width of the portion in yards.

Hence,  The volume of the rectangular portion of the driveway = 4 \times w \times \frac{1}{6}

= \frac{2w}{3}

If the The price of concrete is $98 per cubic yard.

Thus, the total price of concrete = 98\times \frac{2w}{3}= \frac{196 w}{3}

According to the question,

\frac{196 w}{3} = 108.89

⇒  w = \frac{108.89\times 3}{196}

⇒  w = \frac{326.67}{196}\text{ yard} = \frac{326.67}{196}\times 3\text{ feet}=5.00005101\text{ feet}\approx 5\text{ feet}

We are given with the cost of concrete equal to $98 per cubic yard. Paul needs is $108.89. Hence the cubic yard is equal to  $108.89/ $98 per cubic yard or 1.1111 cubic yards. 1.1111 cubic yards is equal to 30.0024 cubic feet. From the given, 12 feet long length and 0.5 feet height, we get the width equal to 30.0024 cubic feet/1<span>2 feet/0.5 feet or 5 feet. The width needed is 5 feet.</span>

First, find the area of the entire traingle using the formula bh/2.
18*9/2=81 cm^2
Then subtract the area of the smaller triangle within the larger one (white triangle). It has the same base but a height of only 4.
18*4/2=36 cm^2
81-36=45
Final answer: 45 cm^2

Here is a scale diagram of part of a wall.
Rus_ich [418]

As Kamran has bought tiles for $60 while he needs only $50 tiles, therefore, he has bought enough tiles to cover the entire wall.

<h3>What is a Ratio?</h3>

A ratio shows us the number of times a number contains another number.

Given the length of the wall on the diagram is 8 cm by  4 cm. And it is given that 4 cm is equal to 1 meters. Therefore, the original dimensions of the wall are,

8 cm → 8×(1/4) → 2 meters = 200 cms.

4 cm → 4×(1/4) → 1 meters = 100 cms

Now, the area of the wall in reality is 200 cm by 100 cm. Therefore, the total area of the wall is,

Total area = 200 cm × 100 cm = 20,000 cm²

The area of a single square tile of side length 10 cm is,

Area of a single tile = 10cm × 10cm = 100 cm²

The number of tiles that will be needed to cove the entire wall will be,

Number of tiles needed = 20000 / 100 = 200

Since the cost of a single tile is $0.25, therefore, the cost of 200 tiles will be,

Cost of 200 tiles = $0.25× 200 = $50

As Kamran has bought tiles for $60 while he needs only $50 tiles, therefore, he has bought enough tiles to cover the entire wall.
