Energy must be absorbed to for the electron to transfer from ground state to a much higher energy level. In the same manner, Energy is emitted when the electron is transferred from a higher energy level to a lower energy level. Thus,

n=3 to n=5 à absorb

n=1 to n=3 à absorb

n=3 to n=2 à emit

n=2 to n=1 à emit

Fynjy0 [20]

Answer:

7.00 g

Explanation:

There is some information missing. I think this is the complete question:

<em>Wine goes bad soon after opening because the ethanol CH₃CH₂OH in it reacts with oxygen gas O₂ from the air to form water H₂O and acetic acid CH₃COOH, the main ingredient of vinegar. What mass of ethanol is consumed by the reaction of 4.86g of oxygen gas? Round your answer to 3 significant digits.</em>

<em />

First, we have to write the balanced equation.

CH₃CH₂OH + O₂ ⇒  CH₃COOH + H₂O

Then, we can establish the following relations:

  • The molar mass of O₂ is 32.0 g/mol
  • The molar ratio of O₂ to CH₃CH₂OH is 1:1
  • The molar mass of ethanol is 46.1 g/mol.

The mass of ethanol that reacts with 4.86 g of oxygen is:

4.86gO_{2}.\frac{1molO_{2}}{32.0gO_{2}} .\frac{1molEt}{1molO_{2}} .\frac{46.1gEt}{1molEt} =7.00gEt

What effect does fermented sugar have in beer brewing
LiRa [457]

Answer:

If the sugar concentration level of the must becomes too high at any given point--either at the beginning or during the fermentation--it starts to have an inhibiting effect on the yeast's ability to produce alcohol. In other words, the higher sugar concentration starts to act as a preservative effecting the fermentation in a negative way.

Explanation:

Fermentation is the process by which yeast converts the glucose in the wort to ethyl alcohol and carbon dioxide gas -- giving the beer both its alcohol content and its carbonation.
