Conquistadors had more durable weapons, such as rapiers, whereas the Aztecs mostly had clubs/spears at the time.

Aztecs had the home field advantage where they knew the land they were fighting on. The Aztecs has better weapons and managed to turn many tribes ruled by the Aztecs to their side. The aztec empire was also in the midst of a power struggle which made conquistadors job easier. Conquistadors also had horses, which Aztecs had never seen before and they broke at a cavalry charge
