Read the excerpt from “The Scarlet Ibis.” Doodle was frightened of being left. “Don’t go leave me, Brother,” he cried, and he le

aned toward the coffin. His hand, trembling, reached out, and when he touched the casket he screamed. A screech owl flapped out of the box into our faces, scaring us and covering us with Paris green. Doodle was paralyzed, so I put him on my shoulder and carried him down the ladder, and even when we were outside in the bright sunshine, he clung to me, crying, “Don’t leave me. Don’t leave me.” What do Doodle’s repeated pleas of “Don’t leave me” foreshadow? Once the narrator returns to school, he leaves Doodle at home and forgets all of his plans to help him. After Doodle refuses to touch the casket, the narrator refuses to help Doodle and leaves him alone in the loft. Later in the story, the narrator races ahead and leaves Doodle to struggle behind during a terrible storm. When Doodle struggles to learn to walk, the narrator leaves and Doodle is left sitting alone in Old Woman Swamp.

Answer: c) Later in the story, the narrator races ahead and leaves Doodle to struggle behind during a terrible storm.

Explanation: foreshadowing means giving clues or predictions of an event that will happen in the future. In this excerpt from "The Scarlet Ibis" the fact that Doodle is so scared of being left and that he almost desperately asks his brother to not leave him, foreshadow that later in the story Doodle is left in a terrible situation, struggling with a storm all by himself.

Answer:

Today I wanted to go out, but I was so sleep deprived I could faint at the spot. I decided to go make some breakfast, pancakes seemed good. I kept messing up because of how tired I was, and was left with a diminishing cardboard looking pancake. Eh, I was just save it for later.. I thought to myself. I had the tendency to still go out, despire being tired. I mean, it's not going to stop me isn't? As accustomed, I went out to my car and drove off to the supermarket to buy some food. It was so hard to focus on the road and I kept closing my eyes, that lead to me having a disastrous accident that damaged me and my car immensely. I got tickets as well and rested at the hospital until I healed.

Does anyone have any good revision techniques that aren’t too boring but work? I know it’s a big ask but I’m open to any ideas,
Romashka [77]
My memory is normally horrible. xD
However, it does help to write things down. For formulas I assume you mean like math and science? I used to love going and buying that stack of sticky notes that's different colors and taking different color markers, and then like on a board or on the wall and color coding all my formulas, that made them easy to find. I also included the lesson and what page I found the formula on, that way if on a test or some thing you need information on it, it was easy to find.

As for analyzing a piece of writing, if its on paper I usually use a highlighter, and if its on the computer you can make a power point or word document with pictures and notes, I used to illustrate out my notes. This is great for visual learners, if you're an audio learner create song lyrics using the information you need to know, pick an instrumental you like and put that song with your notes, hum it till you remember the lyrics.

Just do some research on what type of learner you are and what's best suited for those type of people, then get creative and twist their ideas to suit you and your needs better.
