Answer:

She's incorrect because she put, "300 *square* inches" instead of 300 *cubic* inches. We use cubic inches because we are finding volume, not area.

15•20=300
300/2=159

The student did not divide by 2.

The disk enclosed by the circle x+y = 4 is revoived about the y-axis to generate solid sphere. A hele of diameter 2 units is the
Vesnalui [34]

Step-by-step explanation:

Suppose we have a curve, y = f(x).

y = f(x)

x = a x = b

Imagine that the part of the curve between the ordinates x = a and x = b is rotated about the

x-axis through 360◦

. The curve would then map out the surface of a solid as it rotated. Such

solids are called solids of revolution. Thus if the curve was a circle, we would obtain the surface

of a sphere. If the curve was a straight line through the origin, we would obtain the surface of

a cone. Now we already know what the formulae for the volumes of a sphere and a cone are,

but where did they come from? How can they calculated? If we could find a general method

for calculating the volumes of the solids of revolution then we would be able to calculate, for

example, the volume of a sphere and the volume of a cone, as well as the volumes of more

complex solids.

To see how to carry out these calculations we look first at the curve, together with the solid it

maps out when rotated through 360◦

.

y = f(x)

Now if we take a cross-section of the solid, parallel to the y-axis, this cross-section will be a

circle. But rather than take a cross-section, let us take a thin disc of thickness δx, with the face

of the disc nearest the y-axis at a distance x from the origin.

12) Given that p is an integer, q = -12 and the quotient of р 9 is -3, find p. A) -36 B) -4 C) 4 D) 36
dolphi86 [110]
D) 36

So q is equal to -12 and P divided by Q will be equal to -3
but since you know Q you replace it with -12 and now it's gonna be P divided by -12 equal to -3
move -12 to the other side by multiplying -12 to both sides so you cancel out the -12 under P and you get to isolate P
-3 times -12 will be +36 because the two negative signs cancel out

T=gr+gvt solve for g
alina1380 [7]

On the right side, both terms contain g, so we can factor it out

T = g(r+vt)

Now, to get g by itself, divide by the things in parentheses

g= T/(r+vt)

Mekhanik [1.2K]
(a) 2.09302406 (b) Lower limit of 95% confidence interval = 185.85 (a) To get the t-score, first determine the number of degrees of freedom you have. That's simply the number of samples minus 1, so in this case we have 19 degrees of freedom. Then calculate (1-0.95)/2 = 0.05/2 = 0.025 which is the size of the tail for the confidence interval you want. Finally, lookup in a T-Distribution Table for the 19 degrees of freedom and tail size. The value looked up will be 2.09302406. (b) Once you have the t-score, to calculate your desired interval, calculate the following: V = T*SD/sqrt(n) where V = Variance T = T-score SD = Standard deviation n = number of samples So let's plug in the values and calculate V V = T*SD/sqrt(n) V = 2.09302406*21.02/sqrt(20) V = 2.09302406*21.02/4.472135955 V = 43.99536574/4.472135955 V = 9.837662849 Your 95% confidence interval is now the mean +/- V. So lower limit = 195.69 - 9.84 = 185.85 upper limit = 195.69 + 9.84 = 205.53
