Engel v. Vitale, 370 U.S. 421 (1962), was a milestone United States Supreme Court case that confirmed that it is unlawful for state authorities to create an official school supplication and require its recitation in government funded schools.
The court chose that administration coordinated supplication in government funded schools was an unlawful infringement of the Establishment Clause.
