Sectionalism played a large part in conflict and tension leading up to the Civil War. What is the concept of sectionalism?

The difference sections at this time where the north and the south. The west was also a selection,but this selection becuase it was new did not practice sectionalism. instead it was the other side that fought to control the destiny of the west
