Answer: The hydroxide ion concentration in a solution is 1\times 10^{10}M

Explanation:

pH or pOH is the measure of acidity or alkalinity of a solution.

pH is calculated by taking negative logarithm of hydrogen ion concentration.

pH=-\log [H^+]

HCl\rightarrow H^++Cl^{-}

According to stoichiometry,

1 mole of HCl gives = 1 mole of H^+

Thus 1\times 10^{-4} moles of HCl gives =\frac{1}{1}\times 1\times 10^{-4}=1\times 10^{-4} moles of H^+

K_w=[H^+][OH^-]

10^{-14}=[1\times 10^{-4}][OH^-]

[OH^-]=1\times 10^{10}M

Thus the  hydroxide ion concentration in a solution is 1\times 10^{10}M

How many electrons does nitrogen (N) need to gain to have a stable outer electron shell
earnstyle [38]
It need "3 electrons" to have a stable electronic configuration.

'cause it has 5 electrons in it's outer shell & every atom needs 8 electrons. So, it requires 3 more!

Hope this helps!

igor_vitrenko [27]

NaBH 4 reacts with water and alcohols, with the evolution of hydrogen gas and the formation of the corresponding borate, the reaction being especially fast at low pH. Nevertheless, alcohol, often methanol or ethanol, is generally the solvent of choice for sodium borohydride reductions of ketones and aldehydes.

Methanol poses a greater risk because it is metabolized into a very toxic substance i.e. formic acid and also highly poisonous.

What is Methanol?

Methanol is a promising energy carrier because, as a liquid, it is easier to store than hydrogen and natural gas. Its energy density is, however, lower than methane, per kg.
