Answer:

The question is asking to solve a problem that'll "add up", or in other words, makes sense; through the use of Trigonometric functions. The leaning ladder is the hypotenuse of 17ft, adjacent to that is a wall that measures 16.5ft above the ground. The angle both sides make must be <=70°. The function here is Opposite over Hypotenuse i.e 16.5/17 . We use the inverse operation of Sin which is Sin^(-1) to find if the angle is < or = to 70°. Using a calculator, we find the angle to be 76.06°, which is > more than, 70°.

Thus, the ladder will not be safe for its height and therefore won't make sense.

Answer:

No

Step-by-step explanation:

It is given that Joshua has a ladder that is 17 ft long. He wants to lean the ladder against a vertical wall so that the top of the ladder is 16.5 ft above the ground. Thus,

Use Sine function , we have

\sin(angle)=\frac{\text{Height}}{\text{Ladder length}}

\text{Height}=\text{ladder length}{\times}\sin(angle)

Substituting the given values, we have

Height represents the height of wall.

\text{Height}=17\sin70^{\circ}

\text{Height}=17(0.939)

\text{Height}=15.98\text{ ft}

So the ladder will only reach maximum height of 15.98 ft , just short of 0.52 ft. at the maximum angle of 70 degrees.

Hence, The ladder will not be safe for 16.5 ft height of wall.

sleet_krkn [62]

Answer:

1716 ways

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that :

Number of entrants = 13

The number of ways of attaining first, second and third position :

The number of ways of attaining first ; only 1 person can be first ;

Using permutation :

nPr = n! ÷(n-r)!

13P1 = 13! ÷ 12! = 13

Second position :

We have 12 entrants left :

nPr = n! ÷(n-r)!

12P1 = 12! ÷ 11! = 12

Third position :

We have 11 entrants left :

nPr = n! ÷(n-r)!

11P1 = 11! ÷ 10! = 11

Hence, Number of ways = (13 * 12 * 11) = 1716 ways

A certain smartphone family plan costs $55 per month plus additional usage costs. If x is the number of cell phone used above th
Marina CMI [18]
First thing to do, is organize in your mind what is asked of the problem. Since the problem talks about total cost, then you are dealing with monetary units of measurement. Next, you investigate on the variables given and what they represent. Looking at the following expressions, I could not immediately get a hint on what these terms stand for. But for letter c, I deduced that that would be the overall equation representing the total cost.

The first term, 0.25x, must be the cost of the phone units purchased under the plan . That means each cellphone unit used costs $0.25 each. The second term, 2y, must be the cost of data used by the plan. So, that means each megabyte used up costs $2. These two costs must be what is referred to by the additional costs. Lastly, the last term, '55'. is the fixed cost when you subscribe to the amount per month. Hence, the equation in letter C represents the total cost per month.
