Numerous conflicts emerged between the Catholics and Protestants, and that resulted in persecution, forced migration, lot of death. The Catholic Church was losing its power in multiple countries, and the Protestants were gaining more power, becoming dominant in those same countries. The tensions in Europe because of the religion led to migration of religious groups to the New World. The reason for migration toward the New World was that the church didn't really had any significant power there, and also there was plenty of space for creating communities, thus leave in peace and without fear.
