This type of problems are solved by partitioning the figure into rectangles, whose areas we can find easily.

Picture 1)

From the point denoted by E, draw two altitudes towards the sides AG and AC.

Since ED is 3, then BC is 3. Thus, AB=4-3=1.

Since EF is 1, then HG is 1, so AH=3-1=2.

The area of the figure is equal to the area of rectangle ACDH + the area of the square HEFG.

That is, the area of the figure is 4*2+1*1=8+1=9 (square in).

Picture 2)

As in the first part, draw the altitudes EB and EH from point E.

GF is 5, so AB is 5. This means that BC=7-5=2 (in).

FE is 3, so GH is 3, that is HA=6-3=3.

Thus, Area(figure)=Area(ABFG)+Area(BCDE)=5*6+2*3=30+6=36 (square in.)

Answer: 9 (square in); 36 (square in.)

A carton can hold 1,000 unit cubes that measure 1 inch by inch.describe the dimensions of the carton using unit cubes
Romashka-Z-Leto [24]
You've told us the volume of the carton.
That doesn't tell us the dimensions.

If the unit cubes have to exactly fit the dimensions,
then all we know is that the dimensions are integers,
and their product is 1,000.

The carton could be

1 by 1 by 1,000
1 by 2 by 500
1 by 4 by 250
1 by 5 by 200
1 by 8 by 125
1 by 10 by 100
1 by 20 by 50
1 by 25 by 40

2 by 2 by 250
2 by 5 by 100
2 by 10 by 50
.
.
and several other possible sets.

Answer:

p=2

Step-by-step explanation:

10 – (8p + 3) = 9(2p - 5)

(rearrange and distribute) -8+7=18−45

(Subtract and combine) −26=−52

(Divide and find p) p=2

Complete the statements.
f(4) is
f(x) = 4 when xis
inessss [21]

Think about this as a table of values where domain is the x values and range is the y values.

f(4) wants the y-value when the x-value is 4

f(4) = 1/2

The second question wants us to find the x-value when f(x) also known as the y-value is 4.

f(x) = 4

x = 8

answers: 1/2, 8

WHAT ARE THE EXCLUDED VALUES?
hichkok12 [17]
Since the denominator cannot be zero, you can set 4z+1=0 to find the excluded values.
4z+1=0
4z=-1
z=-1/4
And thus, z cannot equal -1/4

What is the x-intercept of the graph of the function f(x)=x2-16x+64?
Katena32 [7]
X=8

Explanation:
f(x)=x^2-16x+64+(x-8)^2

You see there is a double x- intercept by the 8. So the parabola is tangent to the x axis. So x=8 f(x)=0

hope this helps
