One million = 1000000
Twelve thousand = 12000
Sixty = 60

One million, twelve thousand and sixty = 1 012 060

Standard form is given by A × 10ⁿ
Where A is a number in unit and 'n' is an integer

1 012 060 = 1.012060 × 10⁶

Hannah is asked to convert the number 0.00000305 to scientific notation. Her answer is 3.05 × 106. Which statement best describe
Sophie [7]

Answer: if u mean 3.05 x 10^6 then Hannah is correct.

Step-by-step explanation:

With scientific notations you should have one number on the left side of the decimal so 3.05 is correct and since you move the decimal to the right six times you would get 3.05 * 10^6

What is the extraneous solution?
8_murik_8 [283]

Answer:

 x = 1

Step-by-step explanation:

The only solution is an extraneous solution, which is to say the equation has no solution.

The rational expression reduces to -1 (for x≠1), which makes the equation ...

 1 = 1/x

The only solution to this is x=1, which is specifically disallowed.

___

If you subtract the right side, the equation becomes ...

 ((-x+1)(x) +2(x)(x -1) -(x -1))/(x -1) = 0

 (-x^2 +x +2x^2 -2x -x +1)/(x -1) = 0 . . . . eliminate parentheses in the numerator

 (x^2 -2x +1)/(x -1) = 0 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . collect terms

 (x -1)^2/(x -1) = 0 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . factor

This is undefined for the only value of x that could possibly be a solution, x=1.
