Can someone explain to me how to find if an Algebra Expression is Equivalent to another

You simply set them to equal each other and solve!
y=2x+5
y=4x-2
Due to logical assumptions, we can say that 2x+5=4x-8
+8
2x+13=4x
-2x 13=2x
 /2 x=13/2,, or 6.5
