How many amendments to the United States constitution have been repealed by other amendments?

History
1 answer:
o-na [289]3 years ago
5 0
The only amendment that has been repealed is prohibition.

It was repealed because it was hugely unpopular, totally ineffective and a large factor in increasing the power of the Mafia in the USA.

It was passed in the first place because of misguided nonsense paraded by well-meaning moralistic busybodies.

Sort of like the war on the (rest of) drugs .... except many of those are still illegal and they were not part of a constitutional amendment.

Who was involved in the Anti-war movement?
stealth61 [152]
Many people/groups were involved. Anti-war marches and other protests, such as the ones organized by Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), attracted a widening base of support over the next three years, peaking in early 1968 after the successful Tet Offensive by North Vietnamesetroops proved that war's end was nowhere in sight. I mean, who wouldn't be mad? There was a draft that forced citizens to fight in a war they didn't even believe in! A war that lasted 19 YEARS and 180 days!

Since there's too many people/groups to put here, go to this website and see the full list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_anti-war_organizations

Hope this helps!!

How did the ruling on the Dred Scott case affect the slavery debate?
VikaD [51]

Answer:

The Dred Scott Decision outraged abolitionists, who saw the Supreme Court's ruling as a way to stop debate about slavery in the territories. The divide between North and South over slavery grew and culminated in the secession of southern states from the Union and the creation of the Confederate States of America.
