Making cloth was done entirely by hand which caused clothes to be more expensive. This meant that most people had 1 shirt and 1 pant. The combination of factors that produced this child birth increase was that the soldiers returning home from the war, wanting to start a new journey and longing for stability in the lives of their families and loved ones.

The benefits of GI Bill promised decent pay, access to decent work, and affordable housing and raising a family was possible.

After more than fifteen years of economic instability, things finally got better in the United States, and everyone was ready to take full advantage of it.

Thus, these positive changes after World War II led to increasing trend in birth rates from 1946 to 1964.
