On MOnday the escalator was not working. It took Tom 18 seconds to reach the top, climbing two steps each second. By Tuesday the

escalator had been repaired and Tom took only 12 seconds to reach the top climbing at the same rate. On Wednesday Tom decided to ride the escalator without climbing at all. How long did it take to reach the top this time?

*There are 36 steps on the elevator as it took Tom 18 seconds to reach the top of the elevator (when it wasn't working), taking 2 steps per second.(2*18=36).

*When the elevator was fixed Tom moved through it taking 2 steps per second and managed to reach its top in 12 seconds. This means that he had covered 3 steps in the space of a second while he was moving up the elevator (fixed). (36/12=3).

<em>*Knowing this information, we can come to terms with the fact that the elevator can move Tom 1 step upwards per second if he doesn't make any effort to move up the elevator while its working. As there are 36 steps on the elevator, on Wednesday it took Tom 36 seconds to reach its top.</em>

Yasmine has 4 containers of 4 different colors of flowers to plant. She had 1/3 of each color left over when she was done planti
olga2289 [7]

Answer:

2\frac{2}{3}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the information

  • 4 containers of 4 different colors
  • 1/3 of each color left over
  • She had planted more than 2 1/2 of the original 4 containers

=> Total color were left = 1/3 x 4 = 4/3 of the original containers

=> Total color  were planted = (1 - 1/3) x 4 = 2/3 x 4 = 8/3 of the original containers

However,  8/3 = 2\frac{2}{3}  > 2\frac{1}{2}

So she is true, hence, the fractions to determine the total amount of containers of flowers she planted is:  2\frac{2}{3}

Hope it will find you well

Answer:

8. Obtuse

11. Obtuse

Step-by-step explanation:

c^2 = a^2 + b^2

for 8, it's 6 squared plus 9 squared, which is 117. now, 15 squared is 225. 225 is bigger than 117, which makes it obtuse. if the two results equaled each other, it would be a right triangle. if the 2 smaller numbers when squared were bigger than the hypotenuse squared, then it would be acute
