You are solving quadratic equations. to do so, use the quadratic formula when possible, or factor. 15- for example, you can factor (x+5)(x+3), therefore x=-5,-3. You then go back and plug in your answers to see if you can eliminate any of them.

SOLUTION:

Case: Trigonometry

Method:

Let the distance between the Sun and the Earth be 'z'

The relationship between x, y and z is:

\begin{gathered} tan(x)=\frac{opp}{adj} \\ tan(x)=\frac{y}{z} \\ z=\frac{y}{tan(x)} \\ z=ycot(x) \end{gathered}

Final answer:

In sentence,

The distance between the Sun and the Earth is the product of the distance between the Earth and the moon and the cotangent of the angle x formed using the lines from the Earth and the moon.

Find the equation of the linear function represented by the table below in slope-intercept form. x y -1 3 1 1 3 -1 5 -3
Darya [45]

Answer:

  • y = - x + 2

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Points given:</u>

  • (-1, 3), (1, 1), (3, -1), (5, -3)

<u>Slope-intercept form:</u>

  • y = mx + b

<u>Finding the slope using slope formula and the first two points:</u>

  • m = (1 - 3)/(1 - (-1)) = -2 / 2 = -1

<u>Finding y-intercept using the slope and the first point:</u>

  • 3 = (-1)*(-1) + b
  • 3 = 1 + b
  • b = 3 - 1
  • b = 2

<u>So the equation is:</u>

  • y = - x + 2
