8. Read the passage. Emily Dickinson is considered one of America’s greatest poets, but few of her poems were published in her l

ifetime. Born in 1830, Dickinson grew up in Amherst, Massachusetts, and attended school there and in nearby Holyoke. She was no doubt familiar with other popular New England writers of her day, especially Ralph Waldo Emerson. Dickinson had a fairly normal social life until she reached her mid-twenties, after which she rarely left the home she inherited from her parents. Instead, she may have been able to understand the world better by viewing it from a distance. With a sharp eye and keen intellect, she pondered nature, friendship, love, and death in poems of powerful simplicity. Only about seven of her poems were published during her lifetime, all without her consent. When she died in 1886, relatives found over 1,500 more of Dickinson’s poems, many of them written on napkins and slips of paper neatly tied up with ribbons.
Which statement best explains why this passage is biographical, rather than autobiographical?

It is one person’s account of events in the life of another person.

It gives the years of birth and death for Emily Dickinson.

It tells about important events in the subject’s life.

It tells about the writer’s contacts with the subject, Emily Dickinson.

Separate the two clauses into two sentences. Use a period at the end of the first sentence. Start the new sentence with a capital letter.

2. Is incorrect. It is an example of a "comma splice" where a comma is used instead of the other correct options.

Elena L [17]

In the absence of a formal identity document, a driver's license may be accepted in many countries for identity verification. Some countries do not accept driver's licenses for identification, often because in those countries they do not expire as documents and can be old or easily forged. Most countries accept passports as a form of identification. Some countries require all people to have an identity document available at any time. Many countries require all foreigners to have a passport or occasionally a national identity card from their country available at any time if they do not have a residence permit in the country.
