An important organelle is missing from this image of a eukaryotic cell undergoing protein synthesis. This organelle is not surro

nded by a membrane but sits in the nucleus. It produces ribosomal subunits from proteins and ribosomal rna, which is exported into the cell proper. It is the key to the process of protein synthesis taking place at ribosomes. What is this organelle?

Answer:

Nucleolus

Explanation:

The nucleolus is a round body located inside the nucleus of a eukaryotic cell. It is not surrounded by a membrane but sits in the nucleus. The nucleolus makes ribosomal subunits from proteins and ribosomal RNA, also known as rRNA. It then sends the subunits out to the rest of the cell where they combine into complete ribosomes. Ribosomes make proteins; therefore, the nucleolus plays a vital role in making proteins in the cell.

Why is the aplysia such a popular animal for single-cell studies of learning?
Feliz [49]

Aplysia is a marine gastropod mollusc which is an often used model organism in neuroscience, especially on the cellular biology of learning and memory. What makes them easy to work with are their giant neurons, which are one of the largest. Aplysia neurons are suitable for studies of how neurons and neural circuits control behaviours. Its defensive reflex has been studied because it is mediated by electrical synapses, which allow several neurons to fire synchronously.

How would an organism respond to a catastrophic event?
BlackZzzverrR [31]
Charles Darwin theorized that all species undergo a natural cycle of evolution in order for the species to survive and thrive within its given environment. In the case of a catastrophic event, Mother Nature will naturally find a way to support life and the organisms that are within her care.
