Since they are both negatives they cancel each other out when dividing. So then you’d just divide. 8/4=2. The slash means divided by.

Sauron [17]
Ok so basically it will be 4 x 3 = 12 which leaves $24 ok then you divide 24 by 2 and you get 12 so the amount of brushes that can be purchased is 12.

If h(-8), find 1/3*h(x) = x^2-5x+7
Lynna [10]

The value is 333

<h3>How to determine the function</h3>

From the information given, we have:

  • x = - 8
  • 1/3*h(x) = x^2-5x+7

Now, let's substitute the value of 'x' in the function:

1/3*h(x) = x^2-5x+7

1/ 3 × h(-8) = ( - 8)² - 5 ( -8) + 7

Make 'h ( -8)' the subject of formula

h ( -8) = \frac{( -8)^2 - 5(-8) + 7}{1/ 3}

h ( -8) = \frac{64 + 40+ 7 }{1/ 3}

Take the sum of the numerator

h ( -8) = \frac{111}{1/3}

Take the inverse of the denominator and multiply

h ( -8) = 111 × 3/ 1

h ( -8) = 333

We can see that through the substitute of the value of x as - 8, we get 333

Thus, the value is 333

Someone please help.
Alexxandr [17]

Hi there!

f(x)+f(x+1)=4f(x)

There are 3 parts to this equation:

f(x)

f(x+1)

4f(x)

We must first determine these three parts separately.

<u>1) f(x)</u>

We're given that  f(x)=3^x:

⇒ f(x)=3^x:

<u>2) f(x+1)</u>

Now, we must find f(x+1). To do so, add 1 to x in the original function f(x)=3^x:

⇒ f(x+1)=3^x^+^1

<u>3) 4f(x)</u>

To find 4f(x), multiply the original function f(x)=3^x by 4:

4f(x)=4*3^x:

<u>4) Put it all together</u>

Now, plug each of the three parts into the equation f(x)+f(x+1)=4f(x):

f(x)+f(x+1)=4f(x)

3^x+3^x^+^1=4*3^x\\3^x+3^x*3=4*3^x

Factor the left side

3^x*(1+3)=4*3^x

Divide both sides by 3^x

1+3=4\\4=4

Because this equation is true, f(x)+f(x+1)=4f(x) is therefore true.

I hope this helps!
