The answer is letter B because the raven was always repeating Nevermore in the poem. There was once the speaker asked if he could ever meet Lenore (his beloved who died) again but the raven said Nevermore. The speaker became furious to the raven because the raven symbolizes the grief and loneliness of the speaker.

Which statement best expresses the theme of "July"?
GuDViN [60]

Answer: c. Summer is a calm and peaceful time of the year.

Explanation:

This is based on the poem, "July"  by Susan Hartley Swett.

In this poem, Ms. Swett makes reference to Summer being a calm and peaceful time of the year because the scenarios described in the poem were meant to create a calm and peaceful picture about what happens in July and because we know that July is a summer month, it can therefore be inferred that Summer is a peaceful time of the year.

Phoenix [80]

Answer:

In the given passage, the word puncheon refers to a smoothed log used during summer time as this is cool.

<u>Explanation: </u>

This extract, taken from Twain's Huckleberry Finn, is trying to create a scene, where the protagonist enters the church and finds a dog (hog) or two inside the church. He is trying to say that dogs like smooth logs to sleep on as they become very cool during the night on any summer day. Therefore, the word puncheon, here, describes a smoothed log.

In a moment of weakness, Farrell splurged on a new and very expensive hat
Veseljchak [2.6K]

Answer: This is past <u>simple</u> tense.

Explanation:

  • Past simple tense is formed by adding <u>-ed </u>(in some cases, -d or -ied) to the base form of the verb. The past simple tense of the verb "to splurge" is going to be <em>"splurged." </em>
  • Past progressive form, on the other hand, consists of <u>verb to be</u> and -<u>ING verb form</u> - "was splurging."
  • Past perfect form would be "had splurged", while past perfect progressive would be "had been splurging."
