Read this paragraph. Roderick hastily retreated from the conversation. His friends were sharing their life histories, and nobody

could ever learn his. As it was, his friends believed he had moved to town from Ohio. They thought he was a good math student and a decent basketball player. He scanned their brains for any suspicion, but they knew nothing of his powers. For a beat, he imagined sharing some details of his heroics, then he considered the repercussions. Instead, he would keep his distance and his secrets. Why is this writing considered fiction?

Answer:

Because it's a story with factors that don't exist in the real world, like Roderick's ability to examine people's minds.

Explanation:

A fiction is a text that presents a narrative based on facts and situations that do not exist in the real world. The fiction narrative is the result of the total imagination of its author, provided facts that can often be outlandish and bizarre or based on utopias and scientific questions.

In the text above, we are introduced to a boy who has the incredible ability to use his own mind to analyze other people's brains. We know that it doesn't exist in the real world, so it was created by the author's imagination, so this text is a fiction.
