Hey Amanda89!

This excerpt is considered a sentence. 'Johnny and his friends went fishing.' makes sense. It would have been considered a sentence fragment if the sentence went like, 'Johnny and his friends.' We see that this is incomplete and called a fragment.

Hope this helps! :) Don't forget Brainliest.

Read the excerpt from The Riddle of the Rosetta Stone by James Cross Giblin.
azamat

Answer: The right answer is "moving from the details of the individual hieroglyphics to the big picture of hieroglyphics being both representations of sounds and symbols."

Explanation: Just to elaborate a little on the answer, in this excerpt from James Cross Giblin's entertaining account of the discovery of the Rosetta Stone and its translation by French historian Jean François Champollion (1790-1832), the narrator is pointing out that reflecting upon the hieroglyphs further gave Champollion a chance to understand that, far from simply representing the sounds that identified the names of the pharaohs, or, as some scholars thought, having solely a symbolic meaning, hieroglyphs were both sounds and symbols. He, therefore, advanced the knowledge on the spoken language of ancient Egypt.

Is “that are like two pieces of pale blue-green ice” a subordinate or independent clause?
earnstyle [38]
I think it’s subordinate since it can’t stand on its own. Subordinates add more information to the sentence.

A 10.0-gram sample of nitrogen is at STP. Which property will increase when the sample is cooled to 72 K at standard pressure?
Komok [63]
Assuming nitrogen is an ideal gas, we use the relation PV=nRT tp predict what will happen to the system. From the equation, nR/P is constant. So, if the sample is cooled to 72K then volume would decrease. This decrease in volume would affect the density of the substance. It would increase its density. Therefore, the answer would be density.
