Answer:

A. Old Lights preachers believed religion should be practiced in a rational way while New Lights preachers propagated emotion in religion.

Explanation:

The terms "Old Light" and "New Light" were just two forms of the same religions that differs only in their ways of thinking or approach to their faith. Old Light represents those 'old, traditional' believers while the New Light represents those who are adapt more of the 'new modernized and revised' approach.

These two terms were first used during the First Great Awakening in Britain during the 18th Century which later spreads to the American colonies. They generally refer to the Congregationalists and Baptists in New England who took different stands on the Great Awakening. Old Lights preachers believed religion should be practiced in a rational way while New Lights preachers propagated emotion in religion.

The people never underestimated Mother Nature. They respected Her and were prepared for consequences that may arise with its effects on land, water and livelihood.

Explanation:

When women were working near the shed and men were working in the fields, there was a heavy dust storm in the valley. The women managed to come back, half immersed and bathed in dust. They ran towards a shelter. Esperanza worries about her family staying indoors with instructions given by Melina. Chiquita, Isabel's kitten, was brought inside by Esperanza.

Men returned later, after the storm passed baked and sunk in dunk completely. The next day, Esperanza sees that men have come out in the morning and also, women too, heading to work. When asked Alfonso about the same, he explains that though the storm demolished their plans for the valley for the entire season, they must head back now and plan accordingly. This was their only way of survival. He also explains Esperanza the power Mother Nature has over man.

Waited so patiently for our report but we have not submitted it yet which underlined word functions as a coordinating conjunctio
ryzh [129]

"But" is one of the coordinating conjuctions (For, And, Nor, But, Or, Yet, So) and indicates a contrast between two independent clauses.

Example:

<u><em>"Waited so patiently for our report </em></u><u><em>BUT </em></u><u><em>we have not submitted it yet" </em></u>

IMPORTANT:

An independent clause is one in which a complement is not necessary to make sense. If you take the sentences before and after the conjunctions, they make sense by themselves; there is no need of complement:

<em>- Waited so patiently for our report   </em>

<em>- We have not submitted it yet.</em>
