a) Given

Total area = 81 feet squared.

 Let the area of the square mat = x feet.

From question, area of the rectangular mat is twice that of square mat.

 So, the area of the rectangular mat = 2 x feet.

Now,

Total area = 81 feet squared

Then,

      4(2 x) + x = 81\\ \\ 9 x = 81\\ \\  x = \frac{81}{9}\\ \\ x = 9\\

Hence  the area of the one rectangular mat = 2*9 = 18 feet squared

b) Let the width of the rectangular mat = y feet.

  Then length of the mat = 2 y feet.

   Area of the rectangle = 2 y* y = 2 y^{2}

   and area of rectangle = 18 feet squared.

   So,

 2 y^{2} = 18\\ y^{2} = 9\\ y= \pm3\\

Width can not be negative.

Hence, the width of the rectangular mat = 3 feet

and  length of the rectangular mat = 3*2 = 6 feet

Ted and Fred are the owners of a gas station. They invested $150,000 each and pay an employee named Lawrence $35,000 per year. T
Serjik [45]

Answer:

Ted and Fred

Step-by-step explanation:

As per the question,

Ted and Fred are the owners of a gas station that is they are the owner of their own firm.

As being the owner of their own company, they are the one who is responsible for their loss. That is the firm’s owners always suffer the firm’s risk.

Business Risk: Risk that a business will not be able to cover its operating costs.

So in this case, Lawrence is the employee and legally he is not responsible to suffer any kind of the loss.

So he must be paid his salary  on time and in full whether or not the firm is running a profit, a loss, or just breaking  even.

As being owner Ted and Fred are responsible to withstand the business risk.

Hence, the person who is legally responsible for bearing the $40,000 loss is Ted and Fred.

Write an equation in slope-intercept form that goes through the points (-3, -4) and (3,4).
Marat540 [252]

Answer:

Y = 4/3x + 0

Step-by-step explanation:

(-3,-4) and (3,4) can be plugged in to rise over run.

y 4 -(-4) = 8

x 3 - (-3) = 6

8/6 = 4/3

Plug into slope intercept form

4 = 4/3(3) + b

4 = 12/3 +b

4 = 4 +b

Subtract from both sides

0 = b

Y = 4/3x + 0
