C. difficileis bacteria are found in the environment, soil, water, air, processed meats, human and animal feces.

Spores are transmitted through feces and spread to food, surfaces, and objects when infected people do not wash their hands well.

Once established, the bacteria can produce toxins that attack the lining of the intestine, the toxins destroy cells, produce plaques of inflammatory cells and decaying cell particles within the colon, causing watering diarrhea.
