Answer:

[x+(4-i)][x+(4+i)]

Step-by-step explanation:

Complete the square then regroup the first two terms. Add and subtract: (b/2)^2=(8/2)^2=16

x^2+8x+17=(x^2+8x)+17

=(x^2+8x+16)+17-16

=(x+4)^2+1  create a difference of squares using i^2= -1

=(x+4)^2 - (-1)

=(x+4)^2 - i^2  use the difference of two squares identity

=[(x+4) - i][(x+4)+i]

=[x+(4-i)][x+(4+i)]

Can someone please help me with this! I'll do my best to give a lot of points for it!
Triss [41]
1. By combining like terms
2. Same variable = same term, so you can combine them
3. Because 2y - y = 1y , and 1y is the same as y because a y is one y (obviously)
4. 1/2 + 1/2 = 1. A half an x and a half an x makes one whole x, therefore, x
5. No. You solve them like you would a normal equation with like terms. So it would be 3z^2

Hopefully these are right, I’m a bit rusty!
6. 4x
7. 3y
8. y - 4.5
9. 3.5x + 2
10. 4y + 2
11. 7x
12. 2.2w - 0.5
13. 23b + 6.6
14. 3.75x + 1.5
15. 0.8x + 2.1
Good luck, I hope this helped

Answer:

1. 60% (decrease by 40%)

3. 30% (decrease by 70%)

5. 250% (Increase by 150%)

7. 40% (Decrease by 60%)

9. 171.4% (increase 71.4%)

11. 152.6% (Increase by 52.6%)

Step-by-step explanation:

1. 20x = 11 = 0.55 rounds to 0.6 => 60%

3. 56 x = 14 = 0.25 rounds to 0.3 => 30%

5. 18x  = 45 = 2.5 => 250%

7. 126x = 48 = 0.38 rounds to 0.4 => 40%

9. 42x = 72 = 1.714 => 171.4%

11. 95x = 145 = 1.526 => 152.6%
