You're answer will be $8.49 because you multiply the 6.99 which rounds up to 7, anyways you multiply 7 times the discount (50%) and the answer is 850 so you put your answer in a decimal and you get 8.50 so then you subtract 16.99-8.50 and then you get 8.49 or if you are rounding up to the nearest tenth then it would be 8.50.

To find ten percent, you divide by ten. Then multiply that answer by five to get fifty percent. Subtract that answer from the original price. But because this one is fifth you could just divide by two.
