Explain how the Sepoy Mutiny validated harsh, direct, imperial control in India during the British Raj.

History
1 answer:
PSYCHO15rus [73]3 years ago

The Sepoy Mutiny started as a rebellion against the British East India Company and their new policies. The British East India Company now required that new cartridges must be greased with a substance that was a combination of pork and beef fat. This upset several Sepoys, as many of them were Hindu (and thought cows were sacred) and Muslim (prohibited from interacting/eat pork products).

This caused the Sepoys to kill British officers and lead to this group trying to overthrow the current British government in New Delhi. These violent actions and radical ideas somewhat justified Britain's retaliation. Without implementing a strict rule, Britain knew they would lose control of this territory and many more of their soldiers could be killed.

When did anti black mob violence reach its peak? why did it taper off ?
Gnoma [55]

Answer: Violence continued continuously throughout the 19th century until 1964—efforts to resolve individual disputes.

Explanation:

  • Violence against African-Americans has been ongoing. Thousands of public lynchings of this section of the population occurred during the said period. There are several stages in this process. According to some historians, the climax of lynching happened after the end of World War II, when thousands of African-Americans were lynched in various ways. Previously, this was the case because of the activism of the Negro population who sought to fight for greater rights for this part of the community. Blacks have been charged with various counts of theft, for being sexual predators, and many forfeiting their lives. The racial segregation and lynching of this section of the population were significantly reduced by the repeal of Jim Crown's segregation laws in 1964.
  • The Compromise of 1850 is an effort to resolve certain slavery disputes over new territories that belonged to the united states. The disagreements that occurred among the main protagonists of these events was one of the causes of the civil war. Speaking of slaves and their position after this event, it has not improved significantly in their favor. The Refugee Slave Act of 1850 required citizens to assist in the arrest of exiled slaves and denied enslaved people the right to a jury trial. By the same law, all citizens were required to assist in the capture of slaves in the event of an escape. Also, this law meant denying enslaved people the right to a jury trial. He also placed control of individual cases in the hands of federal commissioners, who were paid more for the return of suspected slaves than for their release, which led many to argue that the law was biased in favor of southern slaveholders.

What important discovery was made by Edmond Halley and Alexis Clairaut, using Newton's ideas of mathematics and gravity? A. They
sasho [114]

The correct answer is option B.

Edmond Halley correctly predicted the return of the eponymous comet Halley after he realized several sightings of a comet were in fact the same comet.

By correctly understanding Sir Isaac Newton's law of gravity and also his ideas in mathematics, Halley was able to correctly predict that the comet that now bears his name would return periodically. He did this by discovering Halley's orbit in 1716 and thus being able to predict the year of its return.

In the U.S., a common cultural belief is that debts must be repaid. Which of the following is true of other societies?
Rzqust [24]

Answer: C.  All societies view debt as something that must be repaid

Explanation:

Generally speaking, there is no society that does not treat debt as something that should be repaid because being debt, it was acquired with the promise that the owner would be paid back the death after a certain period.

To come and deny a person the chance to get their money back when the time comes is simply not a good thing and it would be very rare to find out that some societies are fine with debt not being repaid.
