The joint armies of the French and the Americans even though managed to be victorious at the end, they still needed time, and it was not an immediate victory after they allied. They actually managed to come out victorious after the German forces were weakened and dispersed on few fronts, which gave the edge of the allied forces and eventually come out victorious.
