Farmers formed the farmer's union during the late 19th century, which was a community of farmers battling for their relative rights as taxes and other problems would rise which forced some farmers to get into distress. As after the Civil War, agriculture had become more competitive.

Formerly self-sufficient peasants were now relying for their livelihoods on investors, traders, and railroads.Such partnerships developed economic gain possibilities and also burdens, difficulties and dangers that were not welcomed by many farm workers.Thus with the advancement of technology, peasants knew they may probably be jobless, because of the sum of money they would end up losing.
