Social: His girlfriend was his only friend, and he is lonely now.
What Super ELL techniques can Rafael use to improve his life? Do you think his four problems are connected? Write three sentences giving your advice for Rafael.
Rafael can use different techniques to improve his life but the most important is to have a good attitude towards life.
Explanation:
If Rafael is a foreign language student, he should work more in teams doing more peer interaction and using cooperative learning in class so he will get better grades. He needs to know that asking for help is sometimes necessary in order to do better in life. Then, what Rafael could do about his appearance is doing more exercise, eating healthier or finding a hobby so he could stop thinking about his weight and his ex-girlfriend. These strategies might help him to find a way to feel more comfortable about himself, also, it is very important to have a good attitude all the time no matter what the problem is and count on your family and real friends. Try to be optimist all the time and realize that life is not always easy but we have to move on and pursue all our dreams and the most important is our happiness.
Rafael will need to set goals and think positive. When Rafael starts to think positive and is happy again, he will improve in school. He can set goals to get good grades again and to start working out because of the 40 pounds he has gained. Rafael can go to a group or some kind of school group and will gain friends that way. He wont be lonely anymore. I believe the 4 problems are connected.
G. Stanley Hall described adolescence as a period so turbulent that it resembled the era in which humans evolved from savages into civilized beings. He was a noted american psychologist and educator that described adolescence as a period characterized by conflict with parents and risky behavior. Hall described adolescence as a cascade of instinctual passions and also coined the term "storm and stress" because he viewed adolescence as a period of inevitable turmoil (from childhood to adulthood). Some of the blame for that period is due to the biological changes of puberty. In the adolescent period the levels of conflict can be easily increased.
