C. Proverbs
A proverb is a passed-down saying that can be almost poetic in a sense. The proverb will typically be short and widely known. A type of proverb you may be familiar with is “What goes up must come down” or “The bigger they are, the harder they fall.” We can see the following proverb in the excerpt: <em>The sun will shine on those who kneel under them. </em> We can see that this saying takes on a poetic element, and it is indicated that it is a saying that has been passed down with the words “Our elders say…”
