During the Civil war Abraham Lincoln used the railroads to his advantage.

  • The railroads proved as a major advantage to the Northern states.
  • The majority of railroad networks were under the control of the North.
  • 24000 miles of railroad was under the control of the North while south had only 9000 miles under their control in the beginning of the Civil War.
  • Transport of troops and supplies was easy using the railroads.
