Part a - developing hypotheses the culprit in about half of all seasonal allergy cases in this country is pollen from the common

ragweed plant, ambrosia artemisiifolia. just a single ragweed plant can produce a billion pollen grains per season! all of that pollen is spread by the wind and can remain airborne for days--sometimes landing hundreds of miles away from the parent plant. if you're an allergy sufferer, it's nearly impossible to escape contact with this allergen. as allergy sufferers and medical doctors began to report increases in both the duration and severity of seasonal allergies, researchers started wondering if there could be a relationship between allergies, rising co2 levels, and global warming. as you know, co2 is a necessary reactant for plant photosynthesis, and studies have shown that increasing co2 levels increases plant productivity in some species. this is particularly true for many weedy species. suppose that you were a researcher trying to understand how rising levels of atmospheric co2 might affect ragweed plants, and thus seasonal ragweed allergies. what questions, hypotheses, and predictions might you want to study? complete the flow chart by selecting the hypothesis and predictions that follow from the question you're trying to answer. not all labels will be used

It seems to be very apparent that co2 levels and global warming are absolute culprits in the rise of allergies for people since global warming does rise the co2 levels that are directly responsible for the plant productivity of ragweed plants, major players in the allergy domain.

The main culprit in rise of allergy is increase level of CO2 and alteration in the global warming.

Further Explanation:

Human action causes alteration in the natural greenhouse. From the last era, the flaming of fossil fuels like oils and coal is increasing the level of the atmospheric (CO2) carbon dioxide. This is result from the oil or coal burning reaction which mixes carbon with oxygen in air to make carbon dioxide. The reimbursement of land for the industry, human activity and agriculture can also increased the concentration of the greenhouse gases. The major effects of alteration in the greenhouse are:

 • The earth will happen to be warmer
 • Effect plant and crops which give more CO2
 • Melt glaciers
 • Level of sea rises

It is very evident that increase level of CO2 is developed due to changes in global warming. Thus, this increase level affects the plant productivity of ragweed plants which mainly develop allergy.

C6H12O6 + 602 → 6CO2 + 6H2O
mariarad [96]

Answer:

The chemical equation for photosynthesis is 6CO2+6H2O→C6H12O6+6O2. 6CO2+6H2O→C6H12O6+6O2. In plants, the process of photosynthesis takes place in the mesophyll of the leaves, inside the chloroplasts. Chloroplasts contain disc-shaped structures called thylakoids, which contain the pigment chlorophyll.

Which situation would be most likely to cause a DNA mutation? A. A wood frog in a lake is exposed to temperatures below 0°C duri
leonid [27]

The correct answer is: B. A person spends one hour each day under the ultraviolet rays of a tanning bed.

The relationships between ultraviolet (UV) light and skin cancer are highly positive because it has been shown that indoor tanning bed use represents an avoidable risk factor for melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer. UV light is a form of radiation that causes mutations in DNA by causing the chemical changes that alter the shape of the DNA. So, UV light is a potent mutagen and thus, tanning bed (source of UV light) can cause damage to the DNA in the surface layer of your skin after repeated or prolonged exposure. This might increase the risk for skin cancer.

Many species can reproduce either asexually or sexually. What might be the evolutionary significance of the switch from asexual
nikklg [1K]

Answer:

When an organisms reproduces asexually its offspring is identical, this means it has the same DNA code.

For example viruses look for specific protein types at cell membranes to "anchor" or "stick" and then inject their genetic material. If all the individuals of a population have the same membrane proteins the whole population is vulnerable to be infected by the virus.

Sexual reproduction creates genetic variability due to mechanisms like crossing over and the assortment of chromosomes during meiosis. On top of it, different parents contain different information which leads to offspring with similar but different characteristics which can end up having different membrane proteins that can save them from the virus.
