(01.02 HC) Marla has $95.50 in her savings account. She deposits $5 every week. Her mother also deposits $20 into the account ev

ery time Marla washes the car. Her savings account balance can be shown with the following expression: 20c + 5w + 95.50 Part A: Identify a coefficient, a variable, and a constant in this expression. (3 points) Part B: If Marla saves for 20 weeks and washes the car 5 times, how much will she have in her account? Show your work to receive full credit. (4 points) Part C: If Marla’s mom deposited $10 after each car wash, would the coefficient, variable, or constant in the expression change? Why?

Part A:

Variable is a symbol for a number we don't know yet. It is usually a letter like x or y but can be any letter.
Example: 6z means 6 times z, and "z" is the variable.

Hence, the variables are c and w. [ Choose any one for your answer ]

Coefficient is any number used to multiply a variable.
<span>Example: 6z means 6 times z, and "z" is a variable, so 6 is a coefficient.
</span>
Hence, the coefficients are 20 and 5. [Choose any one for your answer]

A constant is a<span> fixed value which does not change regardless of the variables entered.
</span>
Hence, the constant is 95.50

Part B:

Weeks saved (w) = 20

Cars washed (c) = 5

20c + 5w + 95.50 = (20 * 5) + (5 * 20) + 95.50 = 100 + 100 + 95.50 = 295.50

Hence, Marla will have $ 295.50 in her account.

Part C:

In <span>20c + 5w + 95.50, Marla's mom deposits $ 20 after every car wash.

If Marla's mom deposits only $ 10 after every car wash, then, the new equation would be : 10</span><span>c + 5w + 95.50

Hence, the coefficient will change from 20 to 10. </span>

2a.
Since BC = 10m and M is the midpoint, we can find CM by : 10÷2 = 5m
So, CM = 5m

2b. Now, you have the base ( 5m) & hypotenuse (13m). Pythagoras' Theorem:

c {}^{2}  =  {a}^{2}  +  {b}^{2}
Where c is the hypotenuse, a & b are sides.

{13}^{2}  =  {5}^{2}  + b {}^{2}  \\  {5}^{2}  +  {b}^{2}  = 13 {}^{2}  \\  {b}^{2}  = 13 {}^{2}  -  {5}^{2}  \\ b =  \sqrt{144}  \\ b = 12
b here refers to the height.

2c.
Area of a right-angled triangle =
\frac{base \times height}{2}
So,
\frac{10 \times 12}{2} \\  = 60 {m}^{2}

Evaluate each function following the specification.
telo118 [61]

Answer:

#3 a. g(-1) = 2, g(0) = 3, and g(1) = 2

b. No restrictions for all real numbers

\#4 \  a. \ h(-1) = \dfrac{1}{3}, \  h(0) =0, \  h(2) =  \infty

b. Yes, <em>x ≠ 2</em>

Step-by-step explanation:

#3 The function is given as g(x) = -x² + 3

a. From the given function, by plugging in the value of 'x' in the bracket, we have;

g(-1) = -(-1)² + 3 = -1 + 3 = 2

g(-1) = 2

g(0) = -0² + 3 = 3

g(0) = 3

g(1) = -1² + 3 = -1 + 3 = 2

g(1) = 2

g(-1) = 2, g(0) = 3, and g(1) = 2

b. The given function g(x) = -x² + 3 for finding the value of <em>g</em> can take any value of <em>x</em> which is a real number

Therefore, therefore, there are no restrictions

#4 a. The given function is given as follows;

h(x) = \dfrac{x}{x - 2}

By substitution, we get;

h(-1) = \dfrac{-1}{(-1) - 2} = \dfrac{-1}{-3} = \dfrac{1}{3}

\therefore h(-1) = \dfrac{1}{3}

h(0) = \dfrac{0}{0 - 2} = \dfrac{0}{-2} =0

\therefore h(0) =0

h(2) = \dfrac{2}{2 - 2} = \dfrac{2}{0} = \infty

\therefore h(2) =  \infty

h(-1) = \dfrac{1}{3}, \  h(0) =0, \  h(2) =  \infty

b. From the values of the function, we have that h(x) is not defined at x = 2

Therefore, there is a restriction for <em>x</em> in the function, which is <em>x ≠ 2</em>

Find the area of the convex polygon with vertices (0,5), (-1,2), (4,4), (-3,-4) and (2,0).
kumpel [21]

The area of the convex polygon is 21.5 square units

<h3>How to determine the area of the convex polygon?</h3>

The vertices are given as:

(0,5), (-1,2), (4,4), (-3,-4) and (2,0)

The area is then calculated as:

A = 0.5 * |x1y2 - x2y1 +x2y3 - x3y2 + ....... |

So, we have:

A = 0.5 * |-1 * 5 - 2 * 0 + 0 * 4 - 5 * 4 + 4 * 0 - 4 * 2 +2 * -4 - 0 * -3 - 3 * 2 + 4 * 1|

Evaluate

A = 0.5 * |-43|

Remove the absolute bracket

A = 0.5 * 43

This gives

A = 21.5

Hence, the area of the convex polygon is 21.5 square units
